How to make sure brake pads are properly installed, 2005 toyota corolla?
Im first time brake change on this car, im replacing the rotors and pads, but i see a clip that goes somehow on ine of the pads. Just want to make sure how to do this.How to make sure brake pads are properly installed, 2005 toyota corolla?the clip is likely the anti rattle clip or its a brake squeeler. the antirattle spring or clip helps stop chatter of the pads. it is often held in place by the pads. it is usually visible on top of the caliper. if its brake pads your doing be sure to clean and use the packet recomended for disc brake quiting as well. also even though new or turned clean the braking surfaces with brake clean on the rotors. there is often a film of protective oil placed on the surface to stop surface rust from forming durring shipping or storage.

I understood that the brake disc deteriorate if you dont change your brakes pads on time, when is needed
I have only change my brake pads on time and was on time, as soon as the light sensor went off, I change the pads
Now the sensor is on and I went where I bought the car to buy my pads but it seems they want me to change both front brake discs, so I went to another recognize BMW part shop and they told me I need to change the four of them!
I want second opinion on this cause I dont think its that neccesary or it deteriorate that fast
With your opinion I'll check again in a particular mechanics and see if Im a need of new brake disc

I drive a 2004 Pontiac Vibe (the same as a Toyota Corolla with a different upper shell). Have not had to replace the brakes yet and last inspection still had 50% of my brake pad left.
Brake pad replacement depends on your driving habits and braking frequency. It doesn't hurt to get a second opinion. (It rarely ever does), but not sure how you got 14 years on a single set of brake pads unless you didn't drive that much.
Ok, your talking about the disk rotors, I misunderstood your question. These days manufactures do make rotors out of cheaper metals to minimize brake noise. You can purchase rotors made from higher quality metals that last longer from an auto parts store. Just ask them for the higher quality rotors.
Most manufacturer's have a minimum thickness that is recommended for the rotors as well. These days they don't make rotors as thick to reduce weight and allow for better cooling of the brake area. This unfortunately amounts to having to change the rotors a bit more frequently. From personal experience this is typically every other brake job for the original OEM brake rotors. (ie you can get them turned(machined) once, but typically not twice)
Next time you have the brake rotors replaced, ask for the higher quality rotors. Do you know how to install brake pads on a Mitsubishi Endeavor?
I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the front brake pads on an 04 Mitsubishi Endeavor? We're military and have the advantage of going to the Hobby Shop (a shop that has a few bays you can rent to do your work), but we've never changed the brakes on this car as we have our other ones. Can anyone sum it up on how to or possibly know of a website I can check out? How do you get the change brake pads light to go away on a 1999 Cadillac Seville STS?
It's really annoying. I put in new brake pads, but I didn't change the sensors and I'm not going to because they are stupid expensive for a feature thats pretty unneeded. Is there any way to keep this light off for good? It comes on every time I turn on the car and I have to hit the arrow up to turn it to something else.
Also, are those sensors the possible reason for the annoying chirp I hear while driving? It sounds like its coming from the wheel in the front but the rotors are new, brake pads are new and everything is in sound shape yet it makes the most annoying chirp ever. Could this be because the car thinks it needs new brake pads so its telling me to change by chirp and by stupid light on the dash?How do you get the change brake pads light to go away on a 1999 Cadillac Seville STS?put a piece of black electrical tape over the light or buy the sensors. I have a 1995 Honda Civic EX by the way. The last time the brakes were changed was shortly before I bought the car from a private party last April of 2007. I haven't noticed problems stopping but then again I don't want to wait until they get to be paper thin to replace them either.
